LIONEL FLATCAR WITH AIRPLANE (RARITY 4)

 

Built 1957-60. Red molded frame with car number and LIONEL heat-stamped in white letters on the side.
  • Type 1 car, the original, produced in 1957, has bar-end metal trucks mounted on blued-steel mounting plates and 6800 heat stamped on right
  • 1958 model (Type 2) had AAR-type trucks riveted directly to it's body with number remaining on the right
  • Type 3 was produced later in 1958 and the heat stamped number was moved to the left of the word Lionel
  • Load is a yellow and black model of a Beechcraft Bonanza airplane with retractable landing gear and folding wings
  • The original planes have identifying markings molded into the underside of the fuselage. These markings read
  • No. 6800-60 AIRPLANE THE LIONEL CORPORATION NEW YORK, N.Y. MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA
  • Aircraft is unpainted, and assembled in two ways, either black upper surfaces and yellow propeller or yellow upper surfaces with black propeller.
