ATOMIC ENERGY DISPOSAL CAR

Atomic Energy Disposal Car. Otherwise known as the Radioactive Waste car. Do you know where your TLD is? Built 1958-1959. This car has become extremely hard to find. Although only assigned a rarity rating of 2 in some of the price guides, mint ones have sold at auctions during 2004 for over $900. Containers have blinking red warning lights, and snap onto 2 rails mounted on the car, achieving the electrical connection. The containers are the most important part of the car as far as the value is concerned. They are often missing. If they are with the car, the handles on the tops of them are almost always broken because they are so fragile. To find a pair with all eight handles intact and unbroken would be a modern day Lionel miracle.
