TRACK MAINTENANCE CAR
|Built 1959-61. Crank allows the raising and lowering of the platform so crews can inspect and maintain cantinary wires, overhead signals, tunnels etc. These cars had a two man crew; one at the controls, the other at the far end of the platform. Has AAR trucks, operating couplers. Usually black supersturcture base with gray platform or vice versa, cars were also made with either bright lemon yellow or dark yellow platforms and superstructures. Car bases are always red. A few were made with a creme colored superstructure. Some all black platfoms and superstructures were assembled outside the factory.
