LIONEL SP-12 SMOKE PELLET DEALER DISPLAY BOX

SMOKE PELLET DEALER DISPLAY BOX OF 12. The original smoke pellets. Used in Lionel steam engins that have the smoke unit. This is how train dealers displayed to sell smoke pellets back in the postwar era of Lionel. The display box is what makes it rear. Most were thrown away after the last one was sold.
  • The bottles: Some variations are known to exist. Built 1947-1969. Early 1947-48 round bottles were left over inventory from Lionel's chemistry sets. Typical square bottle was used throughout 1948-68. The label design changed about every 3 years. Interesting to note by 1969 they went back to a round bottle.
