SANTA FE OPERATING BOXCAR. TYPE 5 (UNKNOWN YEAR, TAN, VERY SCARCE)

 

BUILT 1949-52. 9 1/4" operating boxcar orange-painted body with black heat-stamped lettering, car also numbbered 63132, A.T. & S.F. (Santa Fe) logo left and technical data on right, brake wheel, operating plunger mechanism with rubberized man, staple end trucks with magnetic couplers
  • 1949 production, Brown painted metal doors, frame with metal ladders on 4 corners (part of the frame stamping, not seperately applied)
  • 1950 production, chemically blackened metal doors, with ladders
  • 1951, ladders eliminated, blackened metal doors retained
  • 1952 black plastic doors, no ladders
  • A Very rare variation exists which is same tan color used for the x3464 NYC - has white heat stamped letters.
