ALL ABOUT LIONEL TRACK (0 AND 0-27 GAGE)
O-GAUGE and O-27 GAUGE. Gauge refers to the distance between tracks. O and O-27 track measures 1 1/8 inches from inside the two outer rails. The trains run on either track interchangeably. Longer locomotives and cars require larger diametersO and O-27 are the indestructible size for little children, for adults and the best for layouts O gauge is a heavier track for larger layouts, having 3 times more steel than 0-27 track. Most people convert to 0-gauge when expanding beyond a 4x8 tableO-27 switches do not have lights, 0-Gage switches have lights on the switch and on the controller, showing routing for the trains Basic Diameter of 0-Gauge is 31 inches, and 27 inches for 0-27 track. Each is available in larger diameters, 42 inches, 54 inches and 72 inches for expansion We highly recommend 42 inch 0-gauge and include that in our special sets for more gradual curvesToday, sets shipped from the factory with track included in them all contain 0-27 track...Our special sets all contain 0-gauge track Any set can be converted to O-gauge simply by replacing the 0-27 track with 0-gauge trackOur K-1 book has many pages of layouts and suggestionWe also carry the K-line snap track, which has the same tubular rail as regular Lionel, and is for people who like the look of scale size ties, and track that snaps togetherWe also offer Gargraves and Ross track for more advance layout designs. All three are compatable with all O and O-27 trains. You can call us (either Dave Shaw, Doug Waller, or Doug Dressler, Bob Hansen or Stu Willis) at 973-263-1979 |
