|   Produced by Lionel in 1988 and part of their  Famous Inventors series. This car celebrates  Thomas Newcomen. He developed the piston driven  steam engine in 1712 for coal minning. Eventually  this engine would lead to the greater industrial  revolution and ultimately, to the steam train,  the rest being history. Thanks to Lionel, Thomas  Necomen is no longer forgotten.
