| Annual catalog for 1977, with 24 color pages. Lionel is advertising on TV in 1977. A great year with the introduction of the extremely rare Mickey Mouse Express U36B and caboose, plus three cars. Probably the most desirable set to come out the MPC era. Also once again lots of new sets(Trains and Truckin theme in 77, "Convoy" the movie was about to be released). The Steel Hauler and Cargo King sets came numerous extra cargo loads. New items included Rocky MT. Special GN U36B set, GM&O Heartland Express GP-20 set, B&M GP-9, Rock GP-7, Erie Lackawanna GP-9, Conrail GP-9, Santa Fe U36B(extremely popular), Penn Central GP-7, C&O Hudson, WARR General(MPC's first general), Southern Crescent 4-6-4 and cars, all new Standard O and Billboard reefers, numerous new boxcars(including Soda Pop Road series, many new accessories(operating drawbridge, extension bridge, numerous new building kits), and more. A great catalog for the operator, with layout designs and building tips. Lionel was finally addressing the operator(new Track Layout Book and Train and Accessory Manual). |
