| Annual consumer catalog from 1979, with 24 pages  and over 100 color photo's. Lionel first MPC  Killer catalog. Finally we see the return of  Lionel's dual motor FM trainmaster in two  roadnames(Virginian and Southern Pacific), and  the Lionel classic GG-1 in Penn Central black.  Other new items included the Famous American  Railroad Series #1 Santa Fe Frt. set, PRR green  F-3 AA with five matching aluminum cars, N.H. F-3  AA, Limited Edition Quaker City Limited U36B set,  CP Great Plains Express GP-9 set, Tootie Roll  tank car, once again alot of great new rolling  stock and rare billboard reefers(Nabisco, Gerber,  Lite Beer), and lots more. An interesting note  was that 1977 saw Lionel answer a special demand  by collectors and reintroduce the American Flyer  line with three piece's of rolling stock(Gulf  tank car, Chessie hopper, and S.F. boxcar), and  lots more. Shown on the cover, but sold as  uncataloged was the S.P. Limited U36B set(had the  rare 9320 Fort Knox Mint car). We also saw some  popular repeats; Jersey Central 4-6-4 steamer and  cars, WARR General and cars, Conrail rectfier,  Erie Lackawanna GP-9, S.F. SD-18, and others.  1979 was the start of some really nice high end  trains by Lionel. |
