MADISON HARDWARE OPERATING BOXCAR, UNCATALOGED (1991)
BOOKS IN THE MID $150'sThis has become one of the hardest uncataloged LTI cars to find. Less than 1000 were manufactured. Produced by Lionel for Richard Kughn's new acquisition of New York's famous train store "Madison Hardware". Kughn moved all inventory to Detroit and opened a store of sorts. This special car was only available by mail from Madison in Detroit. Has classic original Madison NY graphic's("Since 1909"). Plunger operated design requiring a special track section, man releases a plastic orange Lionel package. Orange and gray boxcar top orange with black lettering and the bottom half is gray with white lettering. Car also has operating couplers, die-cast sprung trucks, opening cargo doors. Tough car to find given its low production numbers. |
