        | The cover for the 2006 (181 page) Lionel consumer catalog features the Milwaukee Road Hiawatha 4-4 -2 steam locomotive. This engine, built by the American Locomotive Company, was put into service in 1935 by Milwaukee Road. It was a beautiful engine! There is also a four car passenger set, a two car passenger set, and a dinner car with "Station Sounds". Catalog also includes the "Lion Master Southern Pacific AC-12 Cab Forward Steam Engine". Unique in design, it was a very desirable locomotive. It also shows an SP caboose with TrainSounds. Lionel also brought back to sets from the 1950's. First is the 2269W B&O Diesel Freight set. This has the F3 AB with five cars. The original (introduced in 1956) can now sell for thousands of dollars. The second set was originally introduced in 1956 and came with Super O track. It is the 2545WS N&W Space Freight set. This was one of the most popular sets ever made, and again, can command thousands of dollars should it be from the 50's! Two notable accessories in this catalog was the "Helicopter Pylon", which was decorated for duty in Vietnam, and had the emblem of the First Cavalry. The other was the 175 "Rocket Launcher". Both are fun pieces to play with! |
