        | This was the second Lionel Heritage catalog, for there new Heritage program for preapproved dealers. Lionel's attempt to have there Collector Line not sold at discounted prices by dealers, and keep the market strong. Unfortunately it failed, but 1997 still produced a fantastic Collectors Line of Lionel Trains(all engines had TMCC). The cover featured an weathered Santa Fe scale Hudson rolling into Lionelville(Sands Of Iwo Jima is playing at the theatre). Items featured; NYC NW2 diesel switcher(first cataloged in 1950, and finally made), Warhorse ATSF Hudson Frt. set(weathered), Soo Line SD 60, Union Pacific GP-9 unit-ore car set, Northern Pacific F-3 AB in passenger paint scheme to match the 4- pack aluminum car set in the first 97 Heritage catalog(the first set of NP F-3 were in the Frt. colors), C&O Heaveyweight passenger car 4-pack for the scale C&O hudson from 1995. 12 paged paper catalog with color computer generated illustrations. Interested note: this was the first Lionel catalog to have a Catalog Misprint slip inserted in the middle informing the consumer that the SOO SD60 was priced incorrect (not $599.95, but $699.95). |
