Item 6-9416
MINNESOTA, DAKOTA & WESTERN BOXCAR
Produced by Lionel in 1979. FEATURES: White sides; green-painted roof and ends; green doors; green and black lettering; large green pine tree logo; Symington-Wayne trucks; operating couplers; opening cargo doors; underbody details; authentic M,D & W paint scheme. There is an interesting story about this paint scheme. Apparantly, Company heads loved the paint graphics thinking that the boxcar would be recognized all across N. America. However, the Maintaience Dept. went NUTS! and convinced the white-shirts to think about a more servicable scheme. They did. The Company went out of business a few short years later. |
