ERIE LACKAWANNA BOXCAR (1978) UNCATALOGED
Uncataloged Erie Lackawanna boxcar produced by Lionel in 78, available in the M&ST.L Service Station Special set(also end of the year closeout separate sale). This was one of the best looking MPC era rolling stock, and the start of cars possessing postwar qualities(didn't last long). Great shiny blue-painted blue body with white heat-stamped letters. Also had metal sprung die-cast trucks with operating couplers. Interesting car, because of the high gloss in the paint application(every car has some imperfection in the painted body). This was the last painted shiny car they did. The only other was the 6-9777 Virginian boxcar from 1976-77(still not as glossy blue of the E.L. boxcar). |
