| Gilbert's first attempt at a GP-7, the GM Demonstrator was manufactured from 1950 until 1953 and features bar couplers on both ends, three position reverse unit, headlight, illuminated number boards, single motor, and a diecast frame. Most critics felt it came out looking close to the prototype. The most unusual feature was the bar-end couplers designed to be compatible with the link couplers still in use.
