Production of the 632 hopper began in 1946 as the diecast Virginian hopper, which was painted grey with opening bays. It quickly morphed into a plastic grey body with white lettering. It was at this time that the road name was changed to "Lehigh New England". The car came with tinplate trucks and weighted link couplers. While most cars came in grey, some came in black plastic and even rarer, white plastic, there was also a dark grey plastic car. In 1953, a few cars were painted grey. All LNE cars came with the LNE logo.
