Manufactured in 1950 and 1951, these three cars (and the 661 add on coach) represented Gilbert"s first attempt at streamlined passenger cars. They were lighted, and rode on new streamlined trucks using weighted link couplers. The sides were extruded aluminum and looked quite authentic. Because the cars were made of aluminum, at times the link couplers would separate, particularly on curves. That being said, it did make one of the most striking streamlined passenger trains manufactured. In 1952, Gilbert commenced manufacturing these cars with plastic bodies, either chrome plated or painted in a satin silver finish.
