| The 718 operating mail car was available from 1946 until 1954. It was manufactured in four versions. The Type 1 version came with an unpainted red body and red pick up arm in 1946 and 1947. The Type 2 version, manufactured in 1947, differed only in having a diecast base. In 1948, the mail pick up arm was painted black and this became the Type 3 version. The Type 4 version dropped the "NEW HAVEN" logo on the sides of the car and replaced it with "AMERICAN FLYER LINES". This change occurred in 1952. |
