  • The Southern Pacific Daylight 4-8-4 was one of the most famous steam locos in America but had never been produced in O gauge
  • Mr. Kughn kept the prototype of Lionel's newly designed loco proudly on display in his office, along with the rest of the five car set in authentic orange, red, silver, and black colors
  • Instead of being painted, the top silver strip on this protoype was created by a silver strip of material glued onto the body along the bottom of the roof. A section of this material has lifted on the roof of the observation, and is hanging loose on one of the Pullmans
  • The lights all have different wiring, combined with the removal of the bulb holders used in Post-War aluminum passenger cars, but all are illumated except the baggage car
  • The doors of the baggage car are glued shut
  • The tender does not have end rail pickups nor whistle
  • The loco has been run but currently will barely move in forward only - it needs a service if you want to
