LIONEL 252 OLIVE/BRASS ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE

An extremely good looking loco, 252's were similar to a 250. Sold from 1926 to 1932, the 252 had a hand-reversing unit, while the 252E had an electric E-unit, and was offered from 1932 through to 1935. The units had an 0-B-0 wheel arrangement (otherwise known as an 0-4-0 wheel arrangement), and the styling of New York Central's S2 electric engines. 252's were made in several colors, including peacock (green), olive green, maroon body with black frame, and terracotta (with both a black frame, a maroon frame and a terracotta frame, and yellow-orange bodies and black, maroon and terracotta frames). Nearly all seemed to come with both nickel and copper journals, and strap or cast headlights. This loco, the olive green version, was made in 1928, had a strap-type headlight with nickel journal boxes mounted on a black frame and, of course, a hand reverse. This loco, the olive green version, has a strap-type headlight with nickle journal boxes mounted on it's black frame.
