| Light blue painted 50' flat car, white lettering, "SOUTHERN PACIFIC" and "0319" on car side, red plastic helicopter body, black blade and landing gear, clear nose, helicopter the same as that sold on the O gauge 3619 car, spring-wound assembly releases the helicopter when the car is backed over a trip fastened to the track, car derails when operated if springs wound too tightly, sprung trucks, cataloged in 1960 separately and in sets 5737, 5745, and 5747, shown in 1960 with a large gray helicopter (unlike that actually produced!), cataloged in set 5753 in 1962 (and illustrated more accurately). Difficult to find in good condition. Car included the adjustable metal track trip for operation. Came in two versions - the earlier one with "Built by Lionel" on the rear tail of the helicopter body, and the later version with no lettering on the helicopter body and "0319-110" on carton. This version is the earlier one. |
