| Produced by Lionel in 1960 only and has become one of the most desirable, scarce military sets from the Post-War era. The set was referred to as the "Land, Sea and Air" gift pack in the 1960 catalogue and on the box lid. It came in the new for 1960 half orange, half white Type B display style lift box with perforated lid. Box came with insert for the unboxed pieces. All the components came in molded olive drab plastic. To make this set complete, the helicopter most have U.S.M.C. markings. Contents include - 45 U.S.M.C. missle launcher, 3429 U.S.M.C. flat car with operating helicopter, 3820 U.S.M.C. flat car with operating submarine, 6640 U.S.M.C. flat car with I.R.B.M. launcher and a 6824 medical rescue caboose. Directions include the 44 engine, 44 envelope with four missles, 3419 helicopter and 3820 submarine. One of the few sets where the set box is rarer than the components, which are also pretty rare. This set is almost always missing pieces or broken. Other than the 45 engine, none of the component pieces were ever boxed for individual, separate sale. Also, this was the only set to include the 3429 with U.S.M.C helicopter. |
