| Quality, not variety, prevailed in 1950. A solid catalog from beginning to end. Virtually the entire motive power product line was revamped as Magnetraction made its full impact (F-3's, steamers, etc. were all renumbered). Three "premier" pieces of equipment made their debut in 1950 - the 773 Hudson, the 2023 UP Alco units, and the twin motor 2330 GG-1, also some of the sets - namely 2148WS (773 Hudson/Madison passenger cars), 1464W (2023 Alco yellow anniversary passenger cars), and 2159W (2330 GG-1 front), are near the top of any collectors list. Also features the 622 GM diesel switcher as New York Central, and the 213 lift bridge, both never made. For Post-War catalogs, 1950 is a must year |
