LIONEL'S FIRST DIESEL SET! 2133W SANTA FE TWIN DIESEL O-GAUGE FREIGHT (1948)

Contents: 2333 Santa Fe or New York Central 2333 AA F3 units, 2458 automobile box car, 3459 operating coal car, 2555 Sunoco single dome tank car, 2357 illuminated caboose, eight curved and seven straight track sections, RCS track, CTC lockon, tube of lube, and 926-5 instruction book. 1948 was the year Lionel produced their first "stand alone" diesel locomotive - the 2333 F3 AA in two road names (NYC and Santa Fe)
  • Tooling for the new locomotives was jointly financed by General Motors, the Santa Fe and NYC railroads and Lionel
  • GM built the real locos and General Motors decals were installed on the Lionel versions
  • The locomotives in the 1948 set were typically rubber-stamped with red and white Santa Fe and white NYC decals positioned above the "Built by Lionel" lettering on the locomotive sides.
