2346 BOSTON & MAINE DIESEL

Built from 1965 until 1966. Boston and Maine GP-9. Blue painted body with black painted ends and white heat-stamped lettering. White painted metal frame. Magnetraction. Single motor, headlight and number boards. Has a removable dynamic brake hatch. GP7's don't have dynamic brakes; the GP9's had them, with the visual difference being the cooling assemblies on the roof. Lionel simply made a snap-on part to make the conversion from a GP7 to a GP9Lionel cataloged B&M GP-9's in two different numbers; 2346 and 2359. Both are highly collectable even though they are identical except for the number on the cab! |
