  • These three cars were acquired by Don Shaw from Joe Ranker in 1973 and are believed to be the illusive "Green Madison Cars" often rumored not to exist. We believe they are an important part of Lionel history, therefore we have described the entire story of what we know about these cars and how they became a part of Don Shaw's collection
  • Joe Ranker was a famous collector who had many connections and also ran a famous train show at the Wayne, NJ firehouse in the 1960's and 1970's. He called and invited Don (Shaw) to view a collection which he advised had belonged to Joe Bonnano, who in turn was known to have close connections to the Lionel factory. The factory considered producing these as a varation of the maroon Madison, Manhattan, and Irvington cars
  • These were part of the Joe Bonanno collection which also included the lift bridge prototype, the khaki colored Jersey Central FM prototype, and probably several other prototypes. Now in Don Shaw's collection, they are maroon 2628 Manhattan (Madison) cars, obviously repainted in pullman green. Includes two pullmans and one modified car to be an observation.
