6415 SUNOCO THREE DOME TANK CAR

| Silver painted body, metal hand rails and ladders. Came with either a black or silver brake wheel. Produced with diecast bar-end trucks with magnetic couplers or AAR plastic trucks with operating couplers. Built from 1953 to 1955, 1964 to 1966, and again in 1969. Cars were marked either 6600, or 8000 gals capacity. The technical data markings came in three formats: one had data only, another had data with an additional last line reading "TANK", and the third has the last line reading "6415". Therefore, many tank cars did not have the number 6415 appearing on the tank. Did Lionel try to drive us collectors crazy, or just add to the fun of collecting?!
