LIONEL 6561 CABLE REEL FLAT CAR

| Built from 1953 until 1956. Same diecast depressed center frame built for 2461 transformer car with a slight modification to adapt it for holding two Lionel cable reels. Gray painted frame (shades vary slightly) with rubber-stamped "6561 LIONEL LINES 6561" in black serif letters on the side rails. The lettering commonly fades out with age and handling. Bar-end trucks with operating couplers attach to truck mounting plates as with 2461. Load is two orange molded plastic reels wound with a single layer of .072" diameter aluminum wire. The original tie down is usually missing. |
