#71 DIE-CAST LAMP POST
|Built 1949-59. This long running sturdy gray die-cast lamp post stood 6" tall. The single piece base was topped with a friction-fit translucent plastic housing. A bayonet type light bulb provided the lighting. Electrical leads dangled beneath the base which had 2 holes for screw down purposes. The LIONEL name is embossed on the base. These were very popular fixtures for lighting up layouts and evolved in later years into all plastic lamp posts.
