4-6-4 New York Central-type Hudson in 1:48 scale. White rubber-stamped cab number, hinged boiler front, ornamental moveable bell, ornamental whistle, turbo generator, hexagonal flagstaffs on the pilot beam, wire handrails, and unique spoked drivers with full compliment of driving hardware. Diecast pilot and trailing trucks, three position E-unit engaged or disengaged from brushplate assembly, lighted, and with smoke. The 773 was the grandchild of the more detailed Pre-War 700E and 763, and was designed to run on 31" diamater O gauge track. It is a scale sized model of NYC's famous Hudson. The 773 was first manufactured in 1950, and again in 1964 and 1965 - possibly in 1966 too. The 1950 model has a smaller rubber-stamped number "773" compared to the 1964 and 1965 models. 1950 models had a steam chest extension (alternatively called a steam cylinder) with the slide valve guide. This was not on the 64/65 models. 1950 models came with a 2426W large diecast tender. 1964 and 1965 models used the 2046W type tenders with plastic tops and plastic trucks. These tenders were numbered "736W" (usually with Lionel Lines or Pennsylvania markings) or 773W (usually with NYC markings). Some people say the 736's were 1964 production, and the 773 tenders 1965 production. The tenders were made in Japan and the Japanese mounted the "water scoop" backwards - facing to the the rear. The scoop is easily reversed.
