ORIGINAL 1954 PRR WALL CALENDAR GRIFF TELLER
The PRR would introduce their classic large wall artwork calendars in 1916. Griff Teller would paint his first in 1929, and continue until 1958 when PRR replaced them with a small, non-artwork version (by 1958 PRR was already in merger discussions with the NYC). This 1954 version showcases the 1953 painting "Pittsburgh Promotes Progress" print on the top, and 13 pages representing thirteen months from December 1953 to December 1954 inclusive. Each page is a three month - previous, current, and future month to view. Measures approx. 28 inches square with metal headers on the top and bottom. Full calendar pad started with December 1953. Classic piece of past railroad history for the train room (great when framed!).This example was not used - has a complete calendar and no large tears or marks. |
