Power Line generated spikes cannot get through any transformer.Transformers are designed to allow only a narrow band of frequencies pass thru in the range of 45 to 65 Hz, eliminating any and all line voltage spikes, which are of much higher frequency.What this means is that house line voltage current and surge protectors and more complex line conditioners have no effect on preventing line spikes from going thru any transformer.
