| This Lionel Commodore Vanderbilt Steamer is one of the RAREST of the modern era locomotives to be produced, as there were less than 600 produced. This locomotive is the first loco painted with Lionel's new process which involves three seperate coats of paint. The color of this piece is a dark Gunmetal Gray. The chassis has been modified sinceit was last run in order to improve pulling performance and provide smoother operation. This loco can pull 12 pounds up a 2.5 degree incline. The smoke unit has also been modified by Lionel to increase smoke production. There is a new Lionel Railsounds chip installed, so there will be distinct differences in the sound versus any other Lionel Vanderbilt. Finally, Lionel added their Infrared Tether for a clean, realistic look and the ultimate in convinence. This magnificant loco is designed to operate with traditional transformer and control systems, as well as the Lionel Trainmaster Command Control System. Enclosed is a letter of authenticity typed from the factory stating that this is one of less than 600 loco's produced. It's the best of the past and the present, made in the spirit and tradition of Lionel. This is no doubt the most collectible loco produced by Lionel since the post-war era.
