B & O 4-6-0 CAMELBACK 1630. Nov (Please read notes here for all the camelbacks)

  • Lionel's first Camelback 2 years ago proved to be an extremely attractive looking locomotive with excellent performance
  • Lionel has now reduced the price and upgraded the model
  • Innovated by the railroads hauling anthracite coal out of the Scranton, Pennsylvania coal fields, they were a new design with a wide firebox which successfully burned 'culm' or tiny particles of waste anthracite coal that was previously a useless buy-product
  • They were widely used in both passenger and freight, and many thousands were in service on the various railroads using them
  • Lionel is making both a TMCC and Conventional version in each road name, with the conventional version being upgrageable to full TMCC
  • The locos are full scale for the original Pennsylvania, and close to full scale for most of the Railroads, but there was no standardization and there were slight differences on each railroad's prototype
  • The die cast locos have all features you can get -- die cast tenders, window glass, glowing firebox, maintenance free motor with momentum flywheel etc
  • At under $ 450, these mark the lowest priced, scale-sized Lionel steam Locomotives ever offered with TMCC, and we think you will be real happy if you can go add one or more to your railroad
  • Lenght, 17 1/2 inches, Minimum radius O-31
  • We are jumping up and down over Lackawanna's which used to Steam along both the front of and in back of our building many years ago!!!
