NICKEL PLATE ROAD 2-8-4 BERKSHIRE STEAM LOCO
|
Made by Lionel in 2003. The Berkshire Type locos were first created in 1925 by Lima Locomotive Works, and were a 'superpower' loco. The large increase in power was possible because of the new 4 wheel trailing truck which could support a larger firebox, hence the increase in steaming capacity - more steam = more power. This is a full scale model of the Nickle plate Berkshire.
