GN PS-4 FLATCARS WITH 40 TRAILERS

By the late 1950s, 40-foot length trailers became the standard across the country for both the trucking companies and the railroads, replacing the shorter style of intermodal piggybacks that were used through the 1930s and 1940s. A single 40-foot trailer was a good fit on standard flatcars of 1950s and 1960s such as the 536 Pullman Standard PS-4 flatcar. In later years, two 40 trailers were commonly placed on longer flatcars such as the TrailerTrain measuring 85 feet in length or more. The all-new scale 40 trailers by Lionel are offered as an intermodal load on our popular PS-4 flatcars. Additionally, matching tractor trucks are also available for select road names.
