| When released in 91, this set was the most popular diesel set produced by Lionel. "Top-of- the-line" with all the bells and whistles, also the most desirable road name in Lionel's history. Along with the 7 streamline aluminum cars and 2 extra B units (sold seperatly) produced over a 2 year period, this set is still hard to beat. Both A units feature working headlight, illuminated number boards, metal chassis and ladders, portholes, screened vents, front operating knuckle couplers, powered metal wheels and die cast metal trucks. Powered A Unit features, dual pullmor motors, eight wheel drive, magnetraction, transformer controlled forward, neutral reverse. Dummy A unit features diesel railsound and volume control. Dummy B Unit features die cast metal trucks, metal ladders and powered metal wheels. The 2 extra B-units for this ABA set can make it an ABBBA, which is the way the Santa Fe frequently powered their premier "El Capitan" and their "Super Chief". |
