READING T-1 4-8-4 STEAM LOCO (1989)
The Reading RR built these in their own shops from older locos, during WWII with cabs from old Mikados. This uncatalogued year-end holiday special was Lionels 1st 4-8-4 in scale, and the largest engine they had ever made at the time(27 inches).FEATURES INCLUDE:Pullmor motor Nickle rims on spoked drivers Die cast shell and die cast scale tender Operating headlight and backup light Electronic railsounds with whistle and bell(the best 89 had to offer) 3-postion e-unit Operating die- cast couplers and trucks Metal detailing on hand rails Highly detailed coal load, and accurate Reading paint scheme. Runs on 042 or wider track. One of these locos (painted red, white and blue) was also used on the Freedom Train on the east coast in 76. All Lionel locos produced from 1987 thru 1997 were run off the production line on a 24 foot test track. One of the best running big steams Lionel has produced. |
