5450 NEW YORK CENTRAL DREYFUSS HUDSON 1993

 

Produced by Lionel in 1993, streamlined 4-6-4 Hudson, uncataloged, new full scale Hudson based on the J3a streamliner designed by Henry Dreyfuss (known as the "sentinel"), part of the special loco series made in concert with the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. Only 750 were produced, gray painted brass streamelined body and tender, white number reading"5450", operating headlight and smoke units Type V scale Hudson frame and Pittman high performance motor, NYC nameplate on front skirt, silver plated spoked wheels, NYC tender with six wheels trucks, body is gray with darker gray center strips and "NEW YORK CENTRAL" in white. The stripe has blue highlight lines, Railsounds in tender. This three rail version is cataloged as 6-18027. These engines were the first in several releases in the Lionel Smithsonian collection.
