SOUTHERN PACIFIC NW-2 DIESEL SWITCHER W/OPERATING MECHANICAL BELL (1990)

 

Built by Lionel in 1990 and part of their NW-2 Electro-Motive Division loco fleet. FEATURES: #8503 * powerful Pullmor motor * die-cast chassis * Magnetraction * die-cast trucks w/ metal wheels/axles/gears * die-cast fuel tanks * operating dual couplers * operating headlights at both ends * illuminated cab * lighted markers * ornamental horn/bell/antenna * 3-postion E-unit (F/N/R) * ringing mechanical bell * metal handrails w/20 stantions * metal grabirons * authentic Southern Pacific paint scheme (gray/red/white lettering). NOTE: At the time, this was the 'top-of-the-line' switcher produced since the Postwar era. Lionel offered a companion SP smoking caboose the same year (6-19707).
