| Produced by Lionel in 2003, and were originally only available in the in the Norman Rockwell Xmas Set(6-31942). Which was produced in extremely limited quantities, it sold poorly. Hence, Lionel broke up the sets and sold the contents separately. The freight cars were packaged as a 4 -pack. Consisting of STD O smoking caboose, and three woodside reefers, all featuring classic Norman Rockwell illustrations. These Rockwell Xmas cars have all become quite rare. Features; 6 -17657 STD O Woodsided caboose, smoke unit, die- cast trucks, illuminated interior, "Sleeping Santa on the 26th" illustration; 6-19561 plastic woodside reefer, with "Xmas Family" illustration; 6-19562 plastic woodside reefer, "Children at Christmas" illustration; 6-19563 plastic molded body, "Santa Claus" illustration. All feature plastic molded body, die-cast metal sprung trucks with operating couplers. All components are Individually boxed. Painted bodies, metal trucks with springs, operating couplers and deluxe in every way. The Rockwell Cars may well be some of the rarest of all Lionel items. |
