NEW YORK CENTRAL F3 AA DIESEL

  • 'The Finest Model Diesel In The World' was the headline in the Lionel Catalog when F3's were first introduced by Lionel, and we think this applies today as well
  • Enjoy one of the best locos of all time
  • Full scale, the 2 unit AA in this set is 26 inches long, has 2 motors, magnetraction, and horn
  • It will run for 50 years or more, being built with the exact designs and high quality standards of the original 1950 Lionel model, with no shortcuts what-so-ever
  • The highly efficient F3 was built by General Motors and is the locomotive that dieselized America, saving the railroads millions of dollars and making steam obsolete. The NYC RR used their F3's in both high speed passenger and freight service
  • This mighty twin Diesel is a thrill to watch, whether you are running it at high speed along the main line or creeping realistically out of the yards
  • The double "A" F3 units are complete in every detail.
  • Headlights and operating knuckle couplers on both pilot ends
  • Illuminated cab interior and engine number boxes
  • Front glass of cab has simulated windshield wipers
  • The powered unit has an electronic horn and bell with volume control, two Pullmor motors, an electronic e-unit with Direction Lock, magnetraction and traction tires
  • By way of clarification, Lionel introduced F3's in 1948 with 2 horizontal motors (#2333), and changed to the vertical pullmor motor in 1950. This loco uses the vertical pullmor motors, ie is the same as the 1950 model. The only change from the 1950 design is the use of an electronic reversing unit (e-unit) instead of a mechanical e-unit.
