SOUTHERN PACIFIC DAYLIGHT GS-4 J-CLASS (1983)

Southern Pacific 4-8-4 GS-4 "J' Class steam locomotive/tender combo produced by Lionel in 1983. This locomotive/tender has become one of the most scarce and desirable of the modern era's steam engines by collectors. The tender is a prototypical oil-burning tender that was modified from conventional #2046 coal tender. The unique color scheme was adopted by Southern Pacific's Company Big-Wigs capturing Southern California's coastal beauty. Both engine and tender carry the color flow from front to back. Its a true classic. The State of California has preserved one of these beauties as part of our US RR history. FEATURES INCLUDE: die-cast boiler/cab * powerful Pullmor motor * transformer controlled F/N/R * Magnetraction * wire tether * smoke emmisions from stack and cylinders * Electronic steam sounds * Electronic whistle sound * engine #4449 * white painted drive wheels * unique vertical headlight/Mars light on boiler front * metal handrails * metal whistle/bell on boiler top * prototypical unlighted number boards on boiler sides * #2046 tender type w/oil filler caps replacing coal load * 6-wheel die-cast tender trucks * authentic Southern Pacific graphics on engine/tender sides w/"Daylight" inscription stamp on loco running board.
