NEW JERSEY TRANSIT ALP-44 ENGINE (# 4402)

 

ALP's are the replacement for the old GG1's. Used by Amtrak and New Jersey Transit, they leave New York's Penn Station using 11,000 volts from the overhead wire, and operate on the old Pennsylvania at speeds up to 125 miles per hour to Phila, Washington and Harrisburg. If hauling a Midtown Direct Train, they switch to the old Lackawanna thru high speed switches at 85 mph, change to 25,000 volts while moving and travel Lackawanna Routes to Dover or Gladstone. With it's true-to- life details this model has all the features of it's real life counterpart, including actual recordings made at the Meadowlands Maintenance Facility. Engine Details include operating pantographs, headlights, marker lights, flashing warning lights plus detail cab interior with painted crew members. Power is supplied by a precision motor with dual flywheels and 8 wheel drive with traction tires. Engine is supplied with the Atlas LocoMatic Control System which is compatiable with all 3 rail 0 gauge trains. Engine is emblazoned with the vivid NJ Transit colors and logos. Minimum Radius 0-42.
