CENTRAL OF NJ 4-6-6 TANK ENGINE

  • With the demise of K-line, this will probably be the last K-line engine you can buy that was made by the original K-line operation
  • Full TMCC and all the other good stuff
  • Heavy duty tank engines were needed to move long lines of coal cars up the unloading ramps where coal was unloaded at major terminals, either into areas for pickup and delivery by truck, or for loading into barges going across the river or seagoing vessels carrying coal for export
  • The coal was carried in a bin supported by a 6 wheel truck rather than a seperate tender
  • The CNJ used them at Elizabethport, Jersery City and throughout the New Jersey Seapot areas, and the B&A used them all over the Boston area
  • The loaders were heavy duty stuff, each car was rotated upside down and unloaded in a few seconds. The had to be real heavy duty too, having to position, stop and restart 50 loaded cars on a ramp
  • Just like it's big brothers, the model is real heavy duty too
  • CS30.05.01.030
