PREWAR 1666E FREIGHT OUTFIT 1938-41

Classic Lionel prewar starter outfit that Lionel cataloged over a four year period(1938-41). Includes old reliable 1666E diecast steamer with 2689T or 2389W(gunmetal in 38, and black after that). The set was 11.95 without the whistle and $15.95 with the whistle. Included 2000 series metal litho cars with automatic couplers; 2680 tankcar(early 38-39), or 2677 gondola(late40-41); 2679 Babyruth boxcar; 2682 caboose. The was superior to the cars in this set. The 1666 would even carry over to the postwar era.
