Classic Lionel Pre-War starter outfit that Lionel cataloged over a four year period. Includes the old reliable 1666E diecast steamer with tender 2689T or 2389W (gunmetal in 1938, and black after that). The set was $11.95 without the whistle and $15.95 with the whistle! Included 2000 series metal litho cars with automatic couplers - the 2680 tank car (early 1938 to 1939), or 2677 gondola (later 1940 to 1941), 2679 Baby Ruth box car, and 2682 caboose.
