Lionel pw-2348

2348 MINNEAPOLIS & ST. LOUIS GP-9

This Minneapolis and St. Louis GP-9 was available in 1958 and 1959. Technically, all Lionel "GP-9's" are GP-7's with a dynamic brake piece added to the roof. This small change allowed Lionel to differentiate between their O27 and O gauge lines, which in reality had very few differences. This engine was available as the motive power in one set - the 2501W in 1958. It was also available for separate sale. This engine is fully painted. The red was applied to the whole body first and then it was masked for the white. The blue on the roof was applied last. The lettering, numbers, and "Peoria Gateway" logos on the cab are heat- stamped. This engine features Lionel's typical Pullmor motor with Magnetraction, a three-position electronic reverse unit, and an operating horn (requires a D cell battery for operation). It also features a metal frame and hand rails, diecast trucks with operating couplers on both ends, ornamental horn, and illuminated headlights and number boards.
