Lionel pw-6464-225
6464 SOUTHERN PACIFIC BOX CAR
This car was built from 1954 until 1956. It was available for separate sale, and as part of the 1517W O27 Texas Special outfit of 1954. It most typically appeared on a type 2a body mold. Lionel used a series of slightly different molds for their 6464 box cars over the years. The best identifying feature to tell them apart is the pattern of the vertical "rivets" on the sides. The body of this SP box car is painted black, and the lettering is rubber-stamped. It has a separately applied brake wheel. It comes with bar-end trucks and operating couplers on both ends. It most commonly came packaged in a Middle Classic box. This car is definitely one of the rarer 6464's. |
