6517U BAY WINDOW CABOOSE (UNDERSCORED)

The Erie RR first built "bay window" cabooses, and Lionel rushed one to market. This model was authentic, full scale and looked great with any engine. It included a brand new authetic all metal caboose truck. Built from 1955 until 1959. Red painted body with white, rubber-stamped lettering. Lighted, but bay window area is dark so people can see out at night. This is the early production model, so identified because the "BLT 12-55" and "Lionel" on right side are underscored. Later models did not have underscoring - we list them under a different number - PW-6517.
